Tailored News Services

Using custom-designed software, NZPA publishes breaking news, data and photos instantly onto websites, mobile phones and intranets across the country, tailoring each feed to meet individual customer needs and platforms.

NZPA established its Digital News Desk in 2005 to provide tailored news services to New Zealand’s rapidly expanding new media market. The upsurge in readership of news-based websites and variety of devices that can receive breaking news, has lead more providers to seek high-quality news solutions.

NZPA has taken strides to lead news agencies in repackaging and marking up - or “tagging” - editorial content for customers while maintaining the integrity of its news wire and images service.

NZPA also has a long history of supplying International news to customers, something it increasingly does for new media. All articles are edited according to requirements: short, descriptive headlines written to given character lengths for SMS; article précis for WAP; and full text versions for websites and intranets. Data, such as sports and financial listings, can also be marked up in xml to vastly increase its flexibility on customer platforms.

NZPA formats all content in industry standard NiTF xml for ease of delivery and publishing. Images from NZPA’s extensive database are supplied in multiple sizes.
