Use a Platform
Tap into subjects being discussed in the media. And talk to people, not at them. Preaching and bragging will get you nowhere.

The whole is bigger than the sum of the parts
You will generate more impact from a joint advertising and PR campaign if they share themes and run simultaneously.
 
Be an expert
The media respect authorities in their field. If you are recognised as an expert, the media will listen to you.
